Via Krupp

Near the Gardens of Augustus you will come across the most beautiful and best known panoramic road on the island, Via Krupp.

A real architectural jewel perfectly integrated into the environment, with its narrow bends, carved into the rock, which descend towards the transparent waters of the Marina Piccola bay and where you can admire the view from a different perspective.

The works began at the beginning of the twentieth century, with a project by Emilio Mayer at the behest of the German industrialist Alfred Krupp who had frequented the island regularly from the end of the nineteenth century.

Here Krupp devoted himself to marine research on plankton and eels thanks also to the use of the "Puritan", the yacht with which he studied the Capri seabed. Unfortunately, the road is currently closed because it is exposed to the danger of falling rocks and it can only be admired in its beauty from the Gardens of Augustus.
