A historic restaurant in Capri, the Geranio was born from an idea of Mrs. Natalina who decided, in the early 1950s, to accompany the games of bocce by the young Capri residents of the time with tasty homemade dishes. The establishment, from a place of ancient evidence of meeting and playing, became a trattoria, where the good taste of being at the table and the pleasantness of chatting among friends met the tradition of Neapolitan cuisine.
This is witnessed by Lucio Gaeta, who has preserved the sensitivity and refinement of its management since 2007. The owner chooses the refinement of Mediterranean cuisine that immediately embraces the contemporary flavors of the sea and land, privileging the treasures of the archipelago such as San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, the hint of Caprese lemon, fish that is always very fresh and selected, and shellfish without renouncing the high-quality cuts of meat.
Fresh products vary following the course of the seasons and the scents of the earth. << Our menu features typical variations of southern cuisine with the addition of an exclusive experience, thanks to our chef Antonio Langella. For those who have never been to Capri, I recommend trying the ravioli capresi with San Marzano tomatoes and basil. On the other hand, those who want to try the house specialties should not miss ordering the paccheri allo scoglio with seafood, squid, shrimps and cherry tomatoes, the linguine with clams, sea truffles and zucchini flowers or the pezzogna all’acqua pazza >>.
To best enjoy the simplicity of the table Lucio recommends trying at least once spaghetto al pomodoro, an iconic dish of Italian cuisine, enriched with burrata cheese, lemon zest and, of course, basil. << For the summer we are waiting for the great return of our most loyal customers – continues Lucio Gaeta – we are ready to welcome those who want to enjoy a relaxing dinner and be pampered by the kindness and professionalism of all the staff >>. Attention to detail accompanies the client of il Geranio to one of the most secluded and enchanting places on Capri, where it is possible to admire the view of the moonlit Faraglioni or walk along the road that leads to the Gardens of Augustus and the famous Via Krupp, for a perfect sensory visit.
