Interview with Costanzo Porta, President of the That’s Amore Capri Association

Culture and creativity are fundamental elements to enrich our society and keep its spirit alive. This is why a group of entrepreneurs in Capri has come together to gift the island with a festival of quality events that celebrate Caprese and broader culture in all its forms. We are talking about the That’s Amore Capri association, whose president, Costanzo Porta, an entrepreneur in the construction sector, has decided this year to take the reins of the festival, aiming to grow it even more.

The next event on the festival’s calendar will be held at the Rumore club. How did the idea for this event come about?

The idea was born from a meeting with Arnaud Lacombe, owner of Il Capri Hotel. It is one of the most elegant hotels in Capri; he and Graziella Buontempo created it to blend French elegance with our unmistakable Neapolitan spirit, choosing a charming location, a few steps from the famous Piazzetta, in a 19th-century pink building in pure Venetian Neo-Gothic style. The building was originally a private villa that was converted into a hotel only in 1899: the couple completely renovated it, carefully incorporating numerous original elements into the new layout, and inaugurated it in March 2023. The Rumore club is one of their projects, and it immediately seemed like the ideal location for a festival event due to its exclusivity.

Why were DJs Albertino and Prezioso chosen as the guest artists?

We strongly wanted the presence of these two icons of dance music and are truly proud of it. They immediately responded enthusiastically to the invitation, eager to bring a bit of their art to Capri. For our part, this is a very special event, unprecedented for our festival until now; we embraced this challenge with curiosity and passion, proud to bring something different to the festival.

What does That’s Amore mean to you today?

That’s Amore started as a playful idea; we began by thinking about how to offer something special to Capri, with many ideas and dreams waiting to be realized. Over time, the festival has materialized and grown into a complex organization that requires the work and professionalism of many. We are grateful to the many establishments that have asked to collaborate with us; we are not yet able to accommodate everyone’s proposals, but we are honored to receive such great attention, and we are working to grow the festival more and more. This year, the staff is working on a rich calendar; the goals are always twofold: to help Soleterre in its work supporting the families of young oncology patients, and to give Capri events worthy of the name of the Blue Island.
