The Grotta dell’Arsenale is located below the Gardens of Augustus just 8 meters above sea level. The name itself makes us understand that it must have always been used as a depot and repairs of boats in the Roman period up to the Second World War.
At the bottom of the Grotto, on the right side, you can see the presence of a brick cladding that suggests the presence of a tank used for collecting water from a natural source.
