Via Krupp

In the vicinity of the Gardens of Augustus you will come across the most beautiful and best-known scenic road on the island, Via Krupp.

A true jewel of architecture perfectly integrated in the environment, with its narrow bends, carved into the rock, descending towards the transparent waters of Marina Piccola Bay and where you can admire the view from a different perspective.

The works began in the early twentieth century, with project by Emilio Mayer at the behest of the German industrialist Alfred Krupp who from the end of the nineteenth century regularly visited the island.
Here Krupp dedicated himself to marine research on plankton and eels, thanks also to the use of “Puritan”, the Panfilo with which he studied Capresi seabeds. Unfortunately, currently the road is closed, because exposed to the danger of falling stones and you can admire it in its beauty only from the Gardens of Augustus.
