Monacone

Just past the Faraglioni you come across this splendid solitary islet, whose name seems to derive from the fact that it was a refuge for monk seals, once part of the Caprese fauna.

On its summit have been found remains of ancient tanks, which someone recognized as an old tomb building by Masgaba, architect of the emperor Augustus,

While other sources have described them as shells used in the past to annoy fish or breed hares or hiding places for quail hunters.
Now, among the faunistic species on the cliff, beyond the nests of the seagulls, it is found, even if it is rare, the famous blue lizard present also on the faraglione of Fuori known under the name of Scopolo.
