Sant’Antonio

Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova also Church of the Sailors. It was finished in the ‘600, but was subjected to several other restoration works, such as the addition of the bell tower and sacristy. To reach it you walk along the Fenicia Staircase, the ancient road carved into the rock that connects Anacapri with the port of Marina Grande.

With its 921 steps it covers a difference in altitude of about 300 meters and is one of the most interesting landscape trails on the island.

Right here the sailors, who were about to descend, found refuge, and that’s why they put a picture of S. Antonio, protector of Anacapri. The architecture is simple and outside there is a terrace in masonry semicircular.
