German Evangelical

The German Evangelical Church was founded in 1899 by some citizens of Frankfurt and financed by the banker Hugo Andreas, who had also commissioned that of Sant’Andrea to Marina Piccola. Capri at that time was a cosmopolitan crossroads of European tourism, which chose the island as its refuge.

Walking along Via Camerelle, Before You Take Via Tragara, Which Leads To Its Splendid Belvedere Of The Faraglioni, You Find This Church , A Typical Example Of Transalpine Architecture.

We do not have the classic domes and barrel vaults of the typical Capri churches, but sloping roofs and tiles that, once again, will symbolize the open soul of Capri. Since 1989 it belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Italy (CELI) and has become a reference point for many foreign tourists who want to treat their soul.
There are also many cultural initiatives that keep this small place of serenity alive.
