Anacapri is a magical place, which combines the beauty of the island of Capri with a more welcoming and familiar dimension, made not only of luxury tourism, but also of small artisan and entrepreneurial realities. It is for this reason that, on Thursday 4th July, Anacapri prepares to be illuminated by light and color for the long-awaited White Night, an event that involves residents and tourists in a great party between art, music and culture. To tell us is Gelsomina Maresca, president of Ascom Anacapri.
“La Notte Bianca di Anacapri, now in its fifth edition, is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique and suggestive atmosphere of the island, between its characteristic narrow streets and evocative views of the sea. All the activities of the historic center will remain open, from the Bar Grotta Azzurra to Piazza Vittoria. Its streets will turn into an outdoor stage, where street artists, musicians and performers will enchant the audience with their performances: in short, 4 hours of music and fun are waiting for you!”.
The creativity that has always inspired the island to its customers will emerge from a series of initiatives: “The craftsmen will go down in the street to show their creations, occupying specific positions. The Red House Museum will be open until 11 pm, to give participants the opportunity to visit this jewel of Anacapri, while the Capri in Art Association will curate an exhibition at Piazza Celio. And there will still be theatrical events, drawing workshops, painting…”.
Wide space at the White Night of Anacapri will be given to gastronomy: “We asked the activities to use the formula of street food: in the space of public ground opposite they can sell delicacies to taste along the way. Each will propose something different, so that visitors can taste the island’s delicacies during their walk through the old town. There will also be stands selling crepes, candies and games.
The aim of the evening is therefore to enhance the commercial activities of the center; to do so, one of the events organized will be a traveling fashion event: girls and boys from Anacapri will wear the clothes of the clothing stores in the historic center.
At 19 will take place the opening ceremony of the bell of the goat of Anacapri, in Piazza Celio. Promoter and organizer of the event is Ascom Anacapri, with the sponsorship of the municipality of Anacapri. The evening will be sponsored by the winery Sella e Mosca.
“The purpose of this initiative is twofold: on the one hand there is the commercial aspect, as we want to make alive the streets of Anacapri and give visibility to its traders; on the other hand, we want to allow tourists to discover traditions, crafts, the culinary habits of the other half of the island”.
Since the first edition of 2020, organized when measures to contain covid-19 were still in force, the event has had an excellent participation; that edition became the symbol of all those who wanted, after months of forced closures, to go back on the street and rediscover the beauty of being together. Today this appointment acquires a new, important meaning: it is a way to show that the commercial activities of Anacapri are present, and that, in order to work, they need to keep the country alive.
