An important recognition has arrived for Grotta Azzurra. The bar and gourmet laboratory, founded in the early 1900s in Marina Grande, has become a member of the “Club des Princes,” the prestigious club created by the renowned champagne producer de Venoge. To celebrate this milestone, on Wednesday, August 23rd at 9:30 PM, an exclusive event will be held at the Grotta Azzurra bar.
Members of the Club des Princes are carefully selected each year for their achievements in the gastronomic field, specifically for enriching their menu with high-quality dishes that are the ideal accompaniment to Champagne des Princes.
“The meeting between the Grotta Azzurra bar and de Venoge,” says the owner Adelmo Viva, “happened by chance. In 2018, the president of Maison de Venoge was on vacation in Capri, and we met at the bar. We started talking about champagne, and that’s when he asked me to include their brand in our menu.
Initially, the collaboration involved only the basic products from their champagne line, as the products from the Prince Line are reserved for a limited selection of prestigious venues. Then came the long-awaited recognition, and we were honored to include the Prince Line products in our gourmet cellar.”
On Wednesday, August 23rd, Marina Grande will come alive with an event that demonstrates how Capri’s excellences can elevate the island’s name on the international stage. The evening will be marked by two distinct moments: a small, invitation-only dinner and tasting with a delegation from de Venoge and other notable personalities from the sector, followed by a DJ set by Gerry aka Tali Freaks and Los Truffaldinos, of course, accompanied by excellent champagne.
“It will be a great celebration where we’ll mark a very important achievement for us,” comments Adelmo Viva, “together with our loyal customers and also with new people attracted by this exceptional partner, de Venoge.” The Marina Grande harbor will set the stage for this grand event, showcasing the full potential of this beautiful corner of Capri, often underappreciated.
Founded in 1837 by Henri-Marc de Venoge, the company is one of the oldest champagne houses still in business today. In 2018, R. Parker named de Venoge Maison of the Year, awarding its champagnes with top ratings. Its current headquarters is the historic villa of the founder on Avenue de Champagne in Epernay, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
