Where to Go to the Beach in Capri

Summer is getting closer, and it brings with it the desire for the sea, fun, and relaxation – all things that Capri certainly doesn’t lack! Here’s a roundup of the most beautiful beaches and the most popular beach clubs on the island. What are you waiting for? Start booking your vacation!

Punta Carena Lighthouse Beach

The Punta Carena beach is located in the municipality of Anacapri, on the western tip of the island. It is also known as “the Lighthouse” because there is a large red lighthouse on the cliff, the second largest in Italy. The scenery is breathtaking, with Mediterranean flora and rocks plunging into the crystal-clear waters. The water here is deep, and after enjoying a refreshing swim, you’ll be treated to a stunning sunset with a romantic atmosphere. You can reach the Lighthouse by taking the Anacapri bus line (terminal Piazza della Pace) or by walking along Via Nuova del Faro (approximately 45 minutes).

Marina Grande and Palazzo a Mare

Adjacent to the port, you’ll find the island’s largest beach, Marina Grande. Its always clean, crystal-clear waters, with shades ranging from aquamarine to blue, make it an ideal spot for families due to its shallow waters. Not far away is the small beach of Palazzo a Mare, which can be reached by boat or by a lovely walk through the lemon groves. It’s a place rich in history, preserving precious Roman walls in opus reticulatum and small basins where one of the imperial residences once stood, first of Augustus and then of Tiberius. The beach has pebbles, and it’s also very family-friendly with clear, transparent water and visible seabeds.

Marina Piccola

The small and charming bay of Marina Piccola is located on the southern side of the island. Thanks to its splendid view of the Faraglioni, it’s one of the most popular places to visit for a swim in Capri, even on winter days, as is customary for many locals. The accessibility is great, with frequent bus connections. Alternatively, from the Marina Piccola square, you can walk down the steps to the Sirene rocks, which divide the bay into two small beaches: Marina di Mulo and Marina di Pennauro.

Gradola

Gradola is a small cove near the famous Blue Grotto, characterized by flat rocks perfect for sunbathing. Its seclusion makes it a small gem nestled in the rocks, where the blue of the sky blends with the deep blue sea, creating a breathtaking view. You can reach Gradola by taking the Anacapri bus line (terminal Piazza della Pace) to the Blue Grotto, with a travel time of about 15 minutes.
