Natural Arch

This jewel of karst origin is the surviving part of a large underwater cave … With time the waves of the sea, the wind and the rains enlarged the opening of this magnificent rocky spur that today reaches 12 meters in width and 20 in height. From this perspective, immersed in panic silence, you can enjoy one of the most evocative views of the island, extended from Punta Campanella to the Amalfi coast.

Back from the Natural Arch, Walking down a path that starts at the height of the restaurant Le Grottelle, you get to the Grotta di Matermania, Great Natural Antro,

nymphaeum in the imperial era and place of worship of the Goddess Mitra in the second century A.D. Past the cave, along the path close to the sea, you can also admire Villa Malaparte (or “House like me”) built on Punta Massullo. The Pompeian red opening of this villa is a typical example of Italian rationalist architecture and was the work of Curzio Malaparte himself, who said: “The day I started to build a house I did not think that I would draw a portrait of myself”.
It is a perfect interlocking between nature and architecture, scenario of the director Jean Luc Godard in his film “Il disprezzo”, which also sees on stage a very young Brigitte Bardot.
It then continues to the Belvedere Tragara and for the homonymous street, among villas, hotels and flower gardens you reach the center in a few minutes (duration 1 hour 30 minutes).
