Located in Anacapri, at the southwest end of the island, the “Lido del Faro” bathing establishment is not only a place to relax in the sun, but also a must-visit culinary destination for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine. Established in 1970 at the behest of Ercole D’Esposito, since that date the bathing establishment has always had family management, and is currently run by the founder’s son, Nello, and grandson Gianmaria.
The restaurant’s gastronomic philosophy is based on the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure authentic and tasty dishes. In the kitchen, the stoves are entrusted to the expert hands of chef Marco Iaccarino, who with skill manages to combine ingredients to create dishes under the banner of tradition, but also with some original and tasty reinterpretations.
The freshness of the sea can already be felt in the appetizers, the perfect introduction to a tasty lunch by the sea seated at the tables of Lido del Faro. As, for example, in the grilled octopus with potatoes and chimichurri sauce, a sauce made with wild herbs, oil, parsley, garlic and vinegar; an ingredient from Capri’s seafood tradition meets an exotic taste in a dish poised between tradition and innovation.
In the first courses, the goodness and authenticity of Mediterranean cuisine is certainly revealed in all its potential: just look at the Mezzo pacchero con genovese di pescatrice, which winks at the Neapolitan tradition by replacing the classic meat with which this type of sauce is made with fish. This dish is served, to refresh, with a lemon sauce.
In the main courses, it is still seafood cuisine, of course, that takes center stage: among the many dishes on the menu, the “bistecchina” of amberjack with “puttanesca 2.0” sauce, made with the addition of diced eggplant, definitely stands out. A classic cuisine, in short, but one that does not lack interesting reinterpretations, and that strictly uses seafood products from the island.
In closing this wonderful culinary adventure at Lido del Faro, a sweet note cannot be missed. In addition to the desserts on the menu under the banner of tradition, there are also some decidedly innovative proposals, which play on the flavors of Capri in an original way: for example, the fresh sweet lemon bites with caviar and raspberries, a true explosion of flavor that captures the senses and celebrates the essence of our Island.
