For the second consecutive year, Hotel La Palma in Capri has reaffirmed its role as the web partner of That’s Amore. This highly fruitful collaboration also gave rise last year to an exclusive event held at La Palma’s beach club, featuring Chef Gennaro Esposito. It was a unique event, centered around solidarity and the desire to offer high-quality initiatives to the island. This shared vision between the members of the That’s Amore Capri Association and Imelda Shllaku, General Manager of Hotel La Palma, is highlighted in this interview, where she discusses her team’s work a year after reopening and the decision to once again support our initiative.
What is your initial assessment one year after reopening?
One year after reopening, we are very satisfied with the results achieved. We have recorded a high occupancy rate and received positive feedback from our guests. Our team has worked hard to ensure a level of excellence in every aspect of the guest experience, and the results so far confirm that we are heading in the right direction. Every day, we are ready to improve and commit ourselves fully to ensuring an unforgettable stay for our guests.
What are the main challenges you faced in managing a hotel in Capri?
Capri is a unique setting, famous for its natural and architectural beauty. Managing a hotel in Capri comes with a series of challenges. First and foremost is the competition in the luxury market. Capri is a high-profile destination with many prestigious hotels offering exceptional experiences. This drives us to constantly innovate and find ways to distinguish our hotel, while always maintaining impeccable service to strengthen our position as a leader in luxury hospitality in Capri.
What are the strengths of your hotel?
Founded in 1822 as the first hotel on the island, Hotel La Palma boasts a long tradition of hospitality reflected in every detail. Among the main strengths that characterize one of the oldest hotels in Capri is, first of all, its central location, which allows guests to easily explore the island’s main attractions, with all major points of interest just a short walk away. The elegant design of the hotel, with refined details curated by interior designer Francis Sultana, creates a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the beauty and elegance of the property. Our culinary offerings aim to maximize the excellence of the local area. Each restaurant at Hotel La Palma has a unique soul and essence, curated by Chef Gennaro Esposito. Gennaro’s and Bianca Rooftop offer extraordinary culinary experiences, while Da Gioia by La Palma, the restaurant and beach club located in Marina Piccola, offers breathtaking sea views and excellent service, with a complimentary shuttle for our guests. Another fundamental aspect is the attention to offering highly personalized service, with attention to every detail to ensure an unforgettable experience. Our staff is trained to anticipate guests’ needs and offer a warm and professional welcome. Additionally, Hotel La Palma is part of the prestigious Oetker Collection, ensuring guests an unparalleled level of service and quality. These combined elements make every stay at Hotel La Palma an exclusive and unforgettable experience.
What are your future plans to further improve your guests’ experience and expand your clientele?
We have several exciting projects for the future aimed at improving our guests’ experience. Our goal is to make a stay at Hotel La Palma unforgettable. First of all, we are working every day to improve our personalized services, tailored to the needs and preferences of our guests, introducing bespoke experiences for families and honeymoon couples. For example, in the 2024 season, we introduced private boat tours with our luxury La Palma boats (with various amenities included, all branded) to explore the island’s caves and hidden bays, private dinners on the La Palma Suite terrace, and personalized wellness treatments in the privacy of our guests’ rooms or in our spa.
Additionally, another key project concerns the dining experience at Hotel La Palma, curated by Chef Gennaro Esposito. Our goal is to always create dynamic menus with Mediterranean flavors and unique notes that only the Campania region can offer. As with every season, the menus at our restaurants, Gennaro’s and Bianca, and our Beach Club, Da Gioia, will enchant our guests on a brilliant tasting journey.
Another key project involves updates to our facilities. We will continue to invest in modernizing the rooms and common areas, improving in-room technology, and implementing sustainable solutions such as using renewable energy and water management systems. Furthermore, we plan to expand our spa and beach club, introducing new wellness treatments and fitness programs, as well as exclusive services to enhance our guests’ relaxation and enjoyment.
In terms of environmental sustainability, we will double our efforts to become even more eco-friendly by adopting sustainable practices in all our operations and promoting social responsibility initiatives.
What message does Hotel La Palma want to convey through its participation in the event?
Through our participation in the event, Hotel La Palma wants to convey a message of community, social responsibility, and commitment to collective well-being. We want to emphasize that our hotel is not just a place of luxury and hospitality, but also an active player in supporting important social causes. We believe that true luxury also lies in the ability to make a difference and improve people’s lives, and we are proud to be part of events that embody these values.
What do you expect from this new edition of That’s Amore Capri?
We expect this edition to offer new and engaging experiences for visitors. The combination of artistic performances and cultural activities centered around solidarity is embedded in a rich and varied program capable of capturing the imagination of all participants. This event represents an opportunity to further strengthen the idea of Capri as a leading cultural and tourist destination, where the solidarity goal becomes the main pivot. We believe that the event will contribute, as always, to enhancing the island’s image globally and attracting new visitors. In summary, we are excited about what the new edition of That’s Amore Capri will offer, and we are convinced that it will be a memorable edition, continuing to celebrate and promote Capri as a beacon of culture, art, and solidarity.
